McAleese, Cowen lead mourners at Gregory funeral
President Mary McAleese and Taoiseach Brian Cowen are among hundreds of mourners attending the funeral of independent TD Tony Gregory in Dublin this morning.
A large number of TDs and Senators, as well as leading figures from the trade union movement and local residents, are also in attendance at St Agatha's Church in the north inner city.
Mr Gregory, who passed away on Friday following a year-long battle with stomach cancer, is due to be laid to rest at the Old Balgriffin Cemetery following funeral mass.
In his homily, campaigning priest Fr Peter McVerry said the Dublin Central TD gave new life to his community and will be remembered for his dedication to the north inner city.
