‘Traceability key to prevention of another pork crisis’
The head of the Oireachtas farm committee has said he believes that traceability will be the key to preventing a re-occurrence of the pork crisis.
The recall of all pork and bacon products was caused by contaminated feed and cost producers, processors and the country millions of euro.
The Oireachtas agriculture committee is to hold hearings on the handling of the crisis in the new year.
Deputy Johnny Brady said that Department of Agriculture, medical and veterinary experts will attend as well as other vested interest groups.
