Three arrested in connection with apartment stabbing
Three men were arrested tonight over the stabbing to death of a man at an apartment.
The 29-year-old Lithuanian was found by gardaí in Summerhill, Nenagh, Co Tipperary in the early hours of this morning.
He suffered multiple wounds and was treated by ambulance staff but died at the scene.
Gardaí said two men – aged 31 and 26 – were arrested in the Nenagh area.
Both are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Thurles and Nenagh garda stations.
The third man, 28, was arrested in the Limerick area and is being questioned at Nenagh Garda Station under Section Four of the Offences Against the State Act.
Garda sealed off the apartment on Summerhill, a terraced housing street in the centre of the town with a mix of residences, shops, offices and pubs.
The Garda Technical Bureau carried out an examination of the scene, while the state pathologist’s office was called.
Superintendent Robert Noonan of Nenagh Garda station said: “Gardaí were called at approximately 3.20am this morning and the body of a male was discovered in the hallway of the house.”
A post mortem examination was carried out at the Mid West Regional Hospital in Limerick.
Nenagh Independent councillor and publican Tony Sheary said the town was shocked by the news.
“It is a terrible tragedy to hear of a death like that,” he said.
