Police in the North are treating the death of an 81-year-old woman in Newry as suspicious.

Police in the North are treating the death of an 81-year-old woman in Newry as suspicious.

A member of a woman's family discovered her body upstairs at her home on Christmas Day.

She was last seen by her family on Christmas Eve.

Police forensic experts are examining the scene. It is believed they are investigating the possibility that she died during a robbery.

Local SDLP assembly member, Dominic Bradley, said the woman came from a family well-known in educational and commercial circles.
