Teens charged with attack on youth remanded on bail
Two teenage boys charged over a drink-fuelled attack on a youth, who was allegedly kicked on the head as he lay on the ground, have been remanded on bail.
The pair, aged 16 and 17 years, was charged at the Children’s Court with assault causing harm to the youth, on May 29 last, at Balally Shopping Centre, in Dublin 14.
In an outline of the prosecution’s evidence, Garda David Bunn, of Dun Laoghaire station, told Judge David Anderson that all three had alcohol taken at the time.
However, he added that an ambulance crew witnessed the victim (aged 17) “being attacked by a group of youths.”
A medic told gardaí that “he had seen two youths kicking the injured part on the ground, in the head area.”
Judge Anderson noted that the youth had made a full recovery.
He remanded both boys, who were accompanied by a mother and a grandmother, on bail to appear again on January 19 next.
The pair will enter a plea on that next date.
