Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has reportedly agreed a deal worth around €450,000 for the publication of his memoirs.

Reports this morning say Mr Ahern has made an agreement with Cornerstone Publishing, a subsidiary of the giant US publisher Random House.

He is reportedly promising that the book will be "meaningful and honest" and will deal with all aspects of his personal and political life.

It will reportedly be ghost-written by Richard Aldous, a historian and UCD professor.
