Two men have been arrested after their stolen car hit a taxi in Co Down this morning.

Two men have been arrested after their stolen car hit a taxi in Co Down this morning.

One of the suspects detained suffered suspected head and spinal injuries following the collision on the Belfast Road at Lambeg South at 2.30am, the PSNI said.

The driver of the stolen Hyundai was questioned about dangerous driving causing grievous bodily injury, taking and driving away, driving while disqualified and having no insurance.

The other man was detained for allowing himself to be carried.

Four other people were injured, including two taxi passengers.

The taxi passengers’ injuries were not believed to be serious.

Police appealed for anybody who may have seen anything to contact them.
