Cork TD: 'People have no confidence in Bishop of Cloyne'
A Cork politician says people no longer have confidence in the Bishop of Cloyne's position following the publication of a report which showed that child sex abuse claims in the diocese weren't handled properly.
The report which was compiled by the Catholic Church's National Board for Safeguarding children, concluded that children were at risk of harm because the Diocese failed to respond appropriately to concerns and allegations.
Labour Cork East TD Sean Sherlock has said Bishop John Magee's apology to victims and his assertion that he is implementing the findings of the report doesn't go far enough.
Deputy Sherlock says if confidence is to be fully restored, Bishop Magee must seriously examine his position.
