Gardaí investigate several overnight collisions

A number of people have been treated in hospital after several accidents on the country's roads overnight.

In Dublin, the Tonglegee road in Coolock remains closed off this morning for an examination by the Garda accident investigation team, after a man was hit by a car and seriously injured shortly before 9pm last night.

The road will be reopened later today.

Meanwhile, a woman in Limerick was seriously injured in a crash in the Long Pavement area of the city just before 11pm last night.

There was also a crash between a Luas and a taxi on the Red Luas line at Smithfield.
