Government to unveil details of stimulus package
The Government will reveal its plan for economic recovery tomorrow, with Taoiseach Brian Cowen and senior ministers launching what is being described as a "framework for sustainable economic renewal" at Dublin Castle.
The plan is expected to include details on a strategy to stimulate the economy and encourage competitiveness, as well as charting how further savings can be made and what initiatives can be launched to kick-start economic growth.
Yesterday, the Government met with the social partners, asking them for their support in drawing up a stimulus package.
During the meeting, the Taoiseach warned that our income had fallen to 2005 levels, while expenditure is at 2009 levels.
