A man was stabbed to death during an early-morning brawl outside a pub today, gardaí said.

A second man was injured in the knife attack in The Square in Glemamady, Co Galway, at 1.30am.

A 45-year-old man was arrested by detectives investigating the incident.

A Garda spokesman said three men were involved in an assault, with a 20-year-old and 30-year-old admitted to Roscommon County Hospital.

“At 2.30am the 20-year-old man was pronounced dead,” he said.

“A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently detained at Tuam Garda Station.”

The second victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.
