Call for Garda Commissioner to explain Rossiter claims

The Garda Commissioner is being called on to explain why claims made relating to the Brian Rossiter inquiry were never followed up.

The 14-year-old was arrested on September 10, 2002, along with two of his friends.

They were kept overnight in cells in Clonmel garda station and Brian was found unconscious the following morning.

He died in hosptial two days later of a brain haemorrhage caused by a blow to the head.

Yesterday, an inquest into his death recorded an open verdict.

His parents, Brian and Siobhan, said the finger of suspicion still points at the gardaí.

Their solicitor, Cian O'Carroll, said the Garda Commissioner never acted on allegations made by a statutory inquiry earlier this year.
