Five people are now being questioned in connection with an attempted robbery of a credit union in south Dublin yesterday evening.

Five people are now being questioned in connection with an attempted robbery of a credit union in south Dublin yesterday evening.

A 25-year-old woman was detained last night and is being held at Rathmines garda station.

Shortly after 5pm yesterday evening a 4x4 jeep was rammed into the front door of the credit union in Rathfarnham - the raiders then fled the scene after failing to gain access.

The vehicle was later found in the Orwell Park area.

Gardaí are investigating reports that a number of shots were fired during the incident.

Nobody was injured and no money was stolen.

The 25-year-old woman was arrested last night in connection with the matter.

The suspects are being held at Crumlin, Tallaght, Terenure, Rathfarnham and Rathmines garda stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and cam be held for up to 72 hours.
