New Corrib forum to hold first meeting
A new forum set up by the Government to try to settle the dispute over the Corrib gas pipeline is due to hold its first meeting today.
The Community Forum for Development in North West Mayo has been set up to try to resolve the long-running stand-off and also to foster economic development in the area.
However, Shell to Sea, the main group opposing the project, is refusing to attend its first meeting today.
The group says it has taken the decision because the forum will not be addressing the manner in which existing consents for the Corrib project were granted to Shell.
