Diamond maker to lay off 150 workers in Co Clare

A company that manufactures industrial diamonds has announced plans to lay off 150 workers in Co Clare.

The cuts were announced to staff this morning at Element Six in the Shannon Industrial Estate.

The company, formerly known as de Beers, currently employs 620 people at the plant.

It says the jobs cuts are necessary due to a 50% fall in sales.
