Guns and drugs seized in gangland murder probe
Guns, ammunition and drugs were recovered today by detectives investigating the murder of innocent gangland victim Shane Geoghegan.
Two rifles, a shotgun and a large quantity of shotgun cartridges were seized during a number of searches in the Galvone area of Limerick city.
Two kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value of €150,000, was also found.
It is the second time this week that gardaà targeting Mr Geoghegan’s killers and organised crime gangs in the city have uncovered ammunition and drugs.
The raids were carried out by the Limerick Divisional Search Team and officers from Roxboro Road station with the help of the Garda National Drugs Unit.
Around 50 rounds of ammunition and about €25,000 worth of cannabis were found in a search of open ground at Ballinacurra Weston on Monday.
Mr Geoghegan, 28, was shot dead earlier this month while walking home from a friend’s house when gangland criminals mistook him for their intended target.
