Retired consultant surgeon at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda Michael Shine has today been struck off the medical register for professional misconduct.

The decision comes in the wake of the Medical Council's decision to take his name off, following an inquiry into complaints that he indecently or sexually assaulted a number of male patients between 1964 and 1994.
