Govt to begin discussions on public sector job cuts

The Government is expected to begin holding discussions this week on ways to make significant cuts in the number of people employed in the civil and public service.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said the Government would seriously look at areas where the number of people employed by the state can be reduced.
