SIPTU 'hopeful' of positive outcome in Aer Lingus talks
SIPTU says it is hopeful that a positive outcome will result from talks on Aer Lingus' controversial cost-cutting plans.
The union has served strike notice on the airline in the event that it presses ahead with planned jobs cuts from next week.
However, in a statement this morning, it said substantial progress had been made in talks this week with Aer Lingus management.
SIPTU believes the airline's planned €74m cost cuts can be achieved without shedding 1,300 jobs.
