Minister keeping bank stability ‘under close review’

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has told the Dáil that the Minister for Finance is keeping the financial stability of Irish banks "under close review".

Many experts believe the Government will have to pump taxpayers' money into some of the banks as their share values continue to slump on the Irish Stock Exchange.
