Perpetrator known to family in 86% of child sex cases

The perpetrator in 86% of child abuse cases is known to the victim's family, according to figures published by the Rape Crisis Network today.

In many cases, the perpetrator is actually a family member, but such abuse is the least-reported form of sexual violence in Ireland.
