Police in the North today arrested a 30-year-old man over the murder of a doorman shot dead in June last year.

Police in the North today arrested a 30-year-old man over the murder of a doorman shot dead in June last year.

Brian McGlynn, 28, was in bed in his home in the Fountain Hill area of Derry when two masked men shot him dead while his 24-year-old girlfriend was in the room.

Police said they are questioning a man about the murder, while he is also being questioned in connection with membership of the republican INLA paramilitary group and possession of a firearm with intent.

Detectives arrested the man in Derry and he is being questioned at Antrim police station.

Mr McGlynn was originally from Strabane and worked as a doorman at a nightclub and a pub in Derry.
