The national council of the Irish Small & Medium Enterprises Association (ISME) has today unanimously recommended that member companies unilaterally introduce an immediate 12-month pay freeze.

The national council has reached this decision, which will be communicated to all members, as a consequence of the serious deterioration in business activity and the forecast of a more difficult economic environment in 2009.
