Hanafin: Voters changing minds on Lisbon treaty

Social and Family Affairs Minister Mary Hanafin says she believes Irish voters are changing their mind on the Lisbon treaty.

Hanafin was responding to an opinion poll this morning indicating that a growing number of voters might support the treaty if it was changed to address a range of Irish concerns.

The Government is due to present a plan to the EU next month on how it intends to proceed following the rejection of the document by the Irish electorate last June.

It is continuing to insist that it has made no decision on the way forward, but most observers believe a second referendum is a virtual certainty.
