Teenager killed in Mayo road crash

A teenager has been killed in a road crash in Co. Mayo.

The 19-year-old died when the car he was driving collided with a tree at Bonniconlon in Ballina, shortly after 1am this morning.

He was the sole occupant of the car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body has been taken to Mayo General Hospital.

The road is closed pending a forensic examination.
