SIPTU members back new draft national pay deal

SIPTU members have voted by a significant four to one margin to back the new draft national pay deal.

The package provides for a pay rise of 6% for all workers over 21 months to be paid in two phases.

The draft agreement now goes before a special delegate conference of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions on Monday for ratification.

Siptu President Jack O'Connor said the majority of workers see the package as being a reasonable proposition given today's challenging environment.
