A part time firefighter has commenced his High Court action aimed at restraining Drogheda Borough Council from retiring him at the age of 58.

A part time firefighter has commenced his High Court action aimed at restraining Drogheda Borough Council from retiring him at the age of 58.

Patrick Reilly (aged 58), of Bally Park, Drogheda, Co Louth, has brought proceedings against the Council who has been employed as a retained firefighter with the Council since 1980 aimed at securing a declaration from the court that pursuant to an agreement between him and the council his retirement age is 65.
