The number of babies born in Ireland in the first three months of this year was almost 10% higher than the same period last year, according to the latest figures from the CSO.

The number of babies born in Ireland in the first three months of this year was almost 10% higher than the same period last year, according to the latest figures from the CSO.

The statistics agency says more than 19,000 births were recorded in the first quarter of the year.
