Farmers lobby TDs over Budget cuts in agriculture

The Irish Cattle and Sheepfarmers Association is lobbying TDs about its objection to agriculture cutbacks announced in this month's Budget.

The organisation says farmers will lose tens of millions every year due to cutbacks in various support schemes.

It says the Suckler Welfare Scheme will be devastated by the cuts even though it is crucial to the quality controls around which Ireland's export trade is based.
