The Irish Medical Organisation is due to meet today to discuss the Government's move to slash the fee paid to GPs for treating people over 70 who retain their medical-card entitlement.

The Government announced the move as part of last week's climbdown on its decision to remove the automatic medical-card entitlement from over-70s.
