Army bomb disposal experts were called to examine a suspicious device found at a house in Co Donegal last night.

The package was discovered at around 10pm at a house outside St Johnston in Donegal. The bomb disposal team arrived this morning to carry out an examination in daylight.

The scene was sealed off and six nearby houses were evacuated to allow for the examination to be carried out.

The device was dismantled and the remains were handed over to gardaí for investigation.

The bomb disposal officer gave the all clear at 9.55 am.
