Prescription drugs overuse 'causes malnutrition'

Overuse of prescription drugs can lead to a dangerous drop in people's nutrition levels, according to a New Zealand pharmacist.

Mike Cushman said prolonged use of medication can lead to Medicine Induced Nutrition Depletion, or "MIND".

Mr Cushman is in Dublin next week to give a series of public lectures on the dangers of the condition.

He said the damage can be limited by taking a dietary supplement.
