Speculation grows that McGrath may withdraw Govt support

Pressure is still mounting on the Government over the medical card controversy.

Independent TD Finian McGrath is to hold a news conference in Dublin this evening.

He has spoken out against the plans to means test over 70s for a medical card and over the past few days there's been increasing speculation that he will withdraw his support from the Government.

Earlier today the former Mayor of Midleton Billy Buckley decided to resign from Fianna Fáil because of the controversy, while last week the Wicklow TD Joe Behan resigned over the issue.
