Cork has sustained a major blow to its reputation in the latest survey from the Irish Business Against Litter organisation.
The survey identifies Cork as the dirtiest city in the country, while Cobh is named as the most-littered town.
Cavan, meanwhile, has been ranked as the cleanest place in the country, with Galway city coming in second place.
Limerick and Waterford are also rated litter-free, while Dublin is described as moderately littered.
Overall, IBAL says cleanliness has improved across the country, with 60% of Irish towns now meeting European standards.
