Taoiseach to update EU on Lisbon Treaty
Taoiseach Brian Cowen will today update EU leaders on current Irish attitudes towards the Lisbon Treaty.
The issue will be on the agenda as Mr Cowen and senior ministers attend the European Council summit in Brussels.
Leaders will also discuss environment and energy as well as the crisis in world financial markets.
Mr Cowen said: “I will present a progress report on developments here in relation to the [Lisbon Treaty] referendum on June 12.”
The Council is also expected to revisit the issue at its meeting in December.
Leaders will also discuss peacekeeping efforts in Georgia.
Mr Cowen will be accompanied to Brussels by Finance Minister Brian Lenihan, Foreign Affairs Minister Micheal Martin and European Affairs Minister Dick Roche.
