Incinerator hearing adjourned due to land mix-up

An oral hearing into a proposed incinerator in Co Meath has been adjourned for at least three weeks after it emerged that a five-acre field included in the application is not owned by the company seeking planning permission.

College Proteins wants to build a meat and bone meal incinerator beside its rendering plant in the village of Nobber.

This morning, the company admitted that a field in the site map is owned by a local resident.

In a statement, the company said it accepted an error was made on the application and apologised to the board and to the land owner.

Presiding inspector Paula Fitzpatrick has adjourned the hearing so that she can consider the evidence and make a presentation on the matter to the board.
