Tests find no lead toxicity in 35 Galway residents
Medical tests carried out in Galway by the Health Service Executive West show that none of the 35 people who experienced high lead levels in their drinking water have been affected by lead toxicity.
The tests were carried out on people whose water supply in their homes tested high for lead contamination.
Galway City Council has now agreed a programme of works to tackle the lead contamination in four areas of the city.
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny, who visited the area yesterday, is accusing Environment Minister John Gormley of not tackling the issue with the seriousness it deserves.
