Taoiseach to address 'waste of taxpayers' money'

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has said today that any waste of taxpayers' money must be addressed.

Mr Cowen was speaking at the National Ploughing Championships in County Kilkenny today after a damning report uncovered millions of euro worth of waste by State bodies and agencies.

The report from the Comptroller and Auditor General comes ahead of the beginning of the new Dáil term tomorrow.

The Taoiseach said if there is less than optimum use of public funds in any department, this must be addressed.
