Four men charged in connection with journalist's murder

Four men are to appear in court today charged in connection with the 2001 murder of journalist Martin O’Hagan.

Four men are to appear in court today charged in connection with the 2001 murder of journalist Martin O’Hagan.

Mr O’Hagan, 51, was shot dead as he walked home with his wife from a pub in Lurgan, Co Armagh.

Two of the men are charged with his murder while another is charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The fourth man is charged with assisting offenders.

A woman who was also arrested has been released and a file will be sent to the Public Prosecutions Service.

The four accused are due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court this morning.

Mr O’Hagan, who worked for The Sunday World newspaper, had built up a reputation for breaking paramilitary and drug-dealing stories.
