Vigil to be held for Tyrone murder victim
A vigil is being held in the Co Tyrone town of Dungannon this evening after a gang stabbed a man to death as he walked home from his daughter's 18th birthday party.
Police in the North are holding six men for questioning about the attack which they describe as 'vicious and despicable'.
Local sources say the six men being held are members of a gang that has been terrorising the estate where Eamon Hughes lived and was murdered.
Reports from the scene claim he was first rammed by a car and then stabbed in the chest as he lay defenceless on the ground.
He was an active community worker and well-respected locally.
Tonight, hundreds of people are expected to join local priests in a vigil at the spot where he was stabbed.
Local people are also angry that two women who came to Mr. Hughes aid were also rammed by a stolen car.
The dead man's son was also shot in the arm with a crossbow.
