Harney to meet husband of misdiagnosed woman
The Health Minister has said she will meet the husband of a woman who died of breast cancer this year. The woman had been given the all-clear on two separate occasions before she died.
Ann Moriarty was discharged from Ennis General Hospital after she complained of feeling ill, before she was diagnosed with breast cancer after travelling to Galway for a second opinion.
Mary Harney has said the reason cancer services are being reformed around the country is to ensure a situation like this does not arise again.
She has said she will meet Annâs husband Karl Henry to listen to his views on the matter
"I am very happy to meet patients. The hardest thing I have to do as Minister for Health is to meet patients and the representatives of patients who have passed away, who have had an adverse experience.
"I believe it is an important role of the Minister for Health to listen and to act on foot of what I have heard," she said.
