US eye care company to create 186 jobs for Cork

In Cork, 186 new jobs are to be created with the expansion of Alcon Laboratories' Irish facility.

The news comes as the first phase of the company's new €15m plant was officially opened by the Foreign Affairs Minister and local TD Micheál Martin this morning.

Alcon makes pharmaceuticals, surgical equipment and contact lens devices and is the largest eye care company in the world.

It bought its plant in Cork in the year 2000.
