NALA: More support needed for disadvantaged areas

The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) says more learning supports are needed for people with literacy problems.

The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) says more learning supports are needed for people with literacy problems.

The group says one in four adults, and a third of children in disadvantaged areas, have problems with reading and writing.

It comes as the United Nations marks international literacy day today with an appeal for more action to reduce illiteracy levels worldwide.
