New third level grant scheme proposed

It has emerged a proposed new unified grant scheme for third level students will include an independent appeals board.

Changes to the way third level maintenance grants are administered are expected to come into operation next year.

The Irish Vocational Education Association has welcomed the proposed new scheme.

General Secretary of the IVEA, Michael Moriarty, said the proposed independent appeals board is all part of the validation process.
