Simon Community to announce details of new campaign

The Simon Community is to announce details today of a new campaign to highlight the problem of homelessness.

It is running its first ever Simon Week from the end of the month to raise awareness about the root causes of homelessness in this country.

The campaign also urges people to get involved in tackling homelessness in their local communities.

Chief Executive of the Simon Community, Patrick Burke, has said the problem should remain a priority, despite the down-turn in the economy.

"Now more than ever it’s important that we keep an eye on homelessness and make sure that the government’s commitment to the eradication of homelessness by 2010 is actually met," he said.
