Two arrested following Laois robbery

Two men have been arrested following an armed raid on a petrol station in Co Laois.

The men - armed with a firearm - entered the premises in Mountrath at around 10.15pm last night.

They escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Gardaí later intercepted their vehicle on the M7 at the Portlaoise exit.

The cash and a firearm were seized, and two men were arrested and taken to Portlaoise garda station.
