Extent of Limerick flooding damage unclear

The extent of the damage caused by last month's flooding in Newcastle West in Limerick will not be known for several months.

An impact report by JBA Consulting has concluded that the exceptional amount of rainfall onto already saturated lands resulted in the River Arra bursting its banks for the first time in living memory.

It says the exact cost of the flooding can only be determined by further analysis.
