Delays in appointing a private sector developer contributed to a £3.8m (€4.7m) hike in the cost of a new hospital pharmacy centre, it was revealed today.

The total bill for the facility at the Altnagelvin hospital in Derry soared from £21.5m (€26.4m) to around £25.3m (€31m) in the time it took to select the preferred bidder to actually signing the deal, the Audit Office has found.
