Motorcyclist dies in charity run

A motorcyclist has been killed while taking part in the Annual Across Ireland Motorcycle Run for the Make a Wish Foundation yesterday, gardaí said.

A motorcyclist has been killed while taking part in the Annual Across Ireland Motorcycle Run for the Make a Wish Foundation yesterday, gardaí said.

Two bikes collided at Clonaglin, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath at around 3.30pm.

A garda spokesman said: “A 35-year-old male motorcyclist, a Polish national, was fatally injured and later pronounced dead at Tullamore General Hospital.

“The other motorcyclist was injured and taken to hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.”

A spokesperson for the charity motorcycle run could not immediately be contacted for comment.
