Two people had a lucky escape this afternoon when their light aircraft crash-landed in Trim, County Meath this afternoon.

Two people had a lucky escape this afternoon when their light aircraft crash-landed in Trim, County Meath this afternoon.

The engine on the Piper PA 28 plane stalled after takeoff, at about 2.10pm.

The pilot carried out a forced landing in a nearby field and both occupants were able to walk away from the plane.

They were taken to Our Lady's hospital in Navan for observation; however, they are not believed to have suffered serious injuries.

Two inspectors from the Air Accident Investigation Unit are on the scene and have commenced their preliminary investigation in to incident.
